Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Wind chills around 32 degrees and waking up before 8am on a Saturday didn’t stop Team Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Nu Rho Psi from participating in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s! 40 students participated in this event at Canton Waterfront Park in Baltimore, MD on November 10. Over 50 students helped us exceed our fundraising goal of $2,200. Team JHU Nu Rho Psi successfully raised a total of $2,500 for the Alzheimer’s Association! When asked why he decided to participate in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Danny Soto (Sophomore JHU Nu Rho Psi member majoring in Neuroscience) said, “While we work for a cure for Alzheimer’s, the next best thing we can do is show those with Alzheimer’s that we, as a community, are there to support them. The Walk is a wonderful way to show that.” Danny was also a member of last year’s JHU Nu Rho Psi’s Walk team. Isabella Castillo (Junior JHU Nu Rho Psi member majoring in Psychology and French) attended the Walk for the first time this year and remarked, “Walking with people that have seen others lose parts of themselves little by little makes me conscious of how grateful I am to still be me, with all my full faculties. It makes me all the more motivated and inspired to one day practice medicine and impact humanity in one way or another.  It makes me admire families and friends of those affected by Alzheimer’s all the more. And it makes me value life all the more.” Thank you so much to everyone who helped us exceed our fundraising goal and supported our team in raising awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease!
