If your university/institution already has an active chapter of Nu Rho Psi, you can get involved directly with your existing chapter. You’ll find a complete list of chapters here.
If you are at a university/institution that does not yet have a chapter of Nu Rho Psi, then you can help found one! A detailed FAQ about founding a chapter is located below, but in general you will need:
- A neuroscience major, minor, concentration, certificate, or similar program.
- A faculty advisor
- Student interest
- Bylaws for your chapter (model bylaws are provided below)
- An application completed with your faculty advisor to found a new branch of Nu Rho Psi (application below) accompanied by the fee for new chapter initiation.
Applications for establishing a new chapter will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. Charter applications are peer reviewed before recommendations are made to the Nu Rho Psi National Council. This process takes approximately 2 months. Colleges or universities with undergraduate neuroscience programs, majors, minors, tracks, or concentrations are encouraged to shelter a chapter of Nu Rho Psi. Alternatively, colleges or universities that are geographically close to one another may choose to apply for a charter as a Cooperative Chapter consisting of members from more than one school. In this case, multiple schools should be listed in the chapter application and charter.
The Charter Application fee can be paid in the Store.
The application process and fees were established by the National Council on November 1, 2006. See the “Application to Shelter a Chapter of Nu Rho Psi” for details.
