Do you know a remarkable student* or faculty member of Nu Rho Psi that you want to be nationally recognized? Nominate them (or yourself!) for this year’s Outstanding Member of the Year award! Applications are due by May 1st!

What is the Outstanding Member of the Year (MOTY) award? 💫

Each year, Nu Rho Psi recognizes one student Nu Rho Psi member and one faculty Nu Rho Psi member who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, service & advocacy, research, and/or other significant contributions to Nu Rho Psi and the broader neuroscience community. Recipients will be recognized at this year’s Annual Nu Rho Psi meeting and on the Nu Rho Psi poster at SfN!

Nominees can be self-nominated or nominated by any Nu Rho Psi member, including the National Council members, chapter advisors, faculty, and student members.
If nominating somebody else, please include:

  • CV/resume of the nominee and
  • Write a 1-2 page letter in support of the nominee, detailing their accomplishments and contributions during the 2025-2026 year and why they should receive the award.

If you are self-nominating, you should submit:

  • A personal cover letter,
  • Up to two references, and
  • A letter of recommendation;

For student members, the letter of recommendation must come from the Nu Rho Psi chapter advisor, and for faculty members, the letter of recommendation should be from one of the two references.

*: Student members include members in post-bacc programs that are within 5 years of obtaining their degree, as long as they were active within Nu Rho Psi during that time!

Application materials: Provide a CV/resume of the nominee

Write a succinct letter (1-2pgs) in support of the nominee, emphasizing specific outstanding accomplishments as outlined in criteria, and reasons for why the nominee should receive this award. 

If self-nominating, please provide a personal cover letter, 2 references, and a letter of recommendation (for students, LOR must come from chapter advisor)
Selection criteria: Was an active Nu Rho Psi member during the 2025-2026 Academic Year, promoted and furthered the mission of Nu Rho Psi, and contributed significantly beyond what is expected/required of Nu Rho Psi members.

Made significant contributions outside of Nu Rho Psi to the broader neuroscience community, by way of research, community outreach, and/or teaching., etc.
