Now in its tenth year, the contest promotes interest in neuroethics among students and trainees around the world. AUTHOR ELIGIBILITY [bold] Participation in the contest is open to any student in high school or secondary school, any post-secondary student, and any postdoctoral fellow or similar early-career trainee. Authors from all countries and regions are encouraged to participate, and we welcome submissions from authors who identify with underrepresented groups. There are also no restrictions regarding an author’s program or area of study as long as their essay meets all requirements outlined in the call. Contest organizers encourage submissions from authors training in fields such as neuroscience, law, medicine, philosophy, and many other social and natural sciences, and the humanities. ESSAY TOPICS [bold] Essay submissions can cover any topic in neuroethics and should address a focused problem at the intersection of the mind and brain sciences, ethics, and law. There are no restrictions on neuroethical topics, and authors are encouraged to take creative approaches with their essays and videos. See the essay call for more topic suggestions. The right column of the flier reads: SUBMISSION The submission deadline is in July. See the essay call for an exact date. Late submissions will not be accepted. CATEGORIES › IYNA-INS High School Essay › General Audience Essay › Academic Essay › Video Essay PRIZES › Cash prizes for top essays › Student membership with INS › Free registration and stipends to participate in the INS meeting REQUIREMENTS Written essays must be in English by a single author and cannot exceed word count limits set for each category. Videos must meet time requirements, but are not limited only to English. Essays produced for or derived from previous coursework are eligible. Author retains all rights to their work.
