Our @nurhopsigsu chapter (β-GA) is hosting their Our @nurhopsigsu chapter (β-GA) is hosting their annual Atlanta Neuroscience Symposium in April - virtually! All events are open to everyone! 🧠 This symposium is focused on Nu Rho Psi’s 2020-2021 annual theme, the Gut-Brain Axis, and includes a journal club, keynote speakers, a student poster session, and an art exhibit 🤩 “This is an excellent opportunity for expanding your network and for students to connect to other students and faculty across universities!” - Erica Browne, GSU Nu Rho Psi’s Chapter President —————— Undergraduate student members and post-bacc members from ANY Nu Rho Psi chapter across the country, conducting ANY neuroscience research (not just gut-brain axis research), are eligible to participate in the poster session on April 8th. Our Annual Member Meeting will be taking place virtually this year, on that day, and we want you to join us! When: October 22nd, 2020. 7 PM EDT/4 PM PDTZ Where: Zoom! The Gut-Brain Axis is an exciting field of research in neuroscience that has completely erupted over the last several years, and we’re excited to focus on it this year! Reminder that our Chapter Activity Grants (CAGs) are due on October 1st. Virtual events ARE eligible for CAGs! More information and the application can be found through the link in our bio. If you’ve attended one of our national members meetings in the past, you may remember that we usually break into smaller groups to discuss multiple topics, including ideas for next year’s theme. With SfN being cancelled this year, we’re going virtual with our member’s meeting (October 22nd, more on this soon!), and we want to collect some ideas in advance. The Google doc link is listed on the last photo if you have ideas you’d like to share 💭

I am from Madisonville, KY and I am involved in a number of other things on campus, including the speech and debate team and a member of Phi Mu. A cool neuroscience fact is that the blood vessels present in the human brain are almost 100,000 miles in length.
Meet Janette, one of our outstanding members! . . Meet Janette, one of our outstanding members! . . . My name is Janette Hynes and I am from Shelbyville, KY. I am a senior majoring in Neuroscience (pathway in psychology) and I am also minoring in Women, Genders, and Sexualities Studies. I am a national-level weightlifter, and compete in CrossFit all over the world. My future career goal is to be a clinical researcher studying addiction. My favorite neuroscience fact is that our brains have a bacteria called "Arc" that has been theorized to have given humans consciousness.

I'm a senior in neurobiology, and I want to work for the NIH after graduation! At Transy, I'm also a long distance swimmer. My favorite neuroscience fact is that decresed levels of oxytocin in Caesarian sections affect both mother and infant's abilities to bond.

Last week, Ohio State’s Nu Rho Psi chapter hoste Last week, Ohio State’s Nu Rho Psi chapter hosted Dr. Sandra Kostyk for our monthly mojo. Every month we host speakers to tell us about their careers and provide advice to our students. Dr. Kostyk received a PhD and MD, and currently works as a neurologist at the Wexner Medical Center specializing in movement disorders like Huntington’s disease. Our students enjoyed hearing about her journey!🧠

Meet a professor!! Professor Melloni is pictured h Meet a professor!! Professor Melloni is pictured here with NuRhoPsi alumni Danielle Voke and Michelle Jeffery. He is one of Northeastern’s Professors of Psychology who teaches neuroscience electives including Psychopharmacology and and Clinical Neuroanatomy. His research focuses on aggression in both basic science and clinical phases with focus on the effects of drugs of abuse and social stressors on offensive aggression as well as biological markers of aggression and treatment for aggressive behavior. Professor Melloni is a strong supporter of NU NRP and a club favorite for professor lunches.
