The International Neuroethics Society and the International Youth Neuroscience Association have opened their international, 11th annual Neuroethics Essay Contest, and are calling for submissions from students and early career scientists like you!
Essays can cover any topic in neuroethics that addresses an issue at the intersection of the mind and brain with law, ethics, and society. Authors are encouraged to be creative in their approach.
Students at all education levels enrolled in a degree-seeking program, including post-baccs who are actively applying to education programs and those in training programs or postdoctoral positions, are eligible to apply to the following categories:
- General Audience Essay: “exploring a topic or story at the interface between ethics, neuroscience, and society in plain language for the general public… aimed at non-specialist audiences” in 1000 words maximum;
- Academic Essay: “critically explor[ing] a current issue in neuroethics through rigorous, evidence-based argumentation” in 2000 words maximum; and
- Video Essay: “explore a topic or story at the interface between ethics, neuroscience, and society in plain language for the general public” between 5-7 minutes.
Authors of winning submissions will receive a $500 prize, and authors of honorable mention submissions will receive a $250 prize.

Authors from all countries and regions are encouraged to participate, and we welcome submissions from authors who identify with underrepresented groups. There are also no restrictions regarding an author’s program or area of study as long as their essay meets all requirements outlined in the call. Contest organizers encourage submissions from authors training in fields such as neuroscience, law, medicine, philosophy, and many other social and natural sciences, and the humanities.

Essay submissions can cover any topic in neuroethics and should address a focused problem at the intersection of the mind and brain sciences, ethics, and law. REQUIREMENTS
Written essays must be in English by a single author and cannot exceed word
count limits set for each category. Videos must meet time requirements, but are not limited only to English. Essays produced for or derived from previous coursework are eligible. Author retains all rights to their work.
