I am from Madisonville, KY and I am involved in a number of other things on campus, including the speech and debate team and a member of Phi Mu. A cool neuroscience fact is that the blood vessels present in the human brain are almost 100,000 miles in length.
Meet Janette, one of our outstanding members! . . Meet Janette, one of our outstanding members! . . . My name is Janette Hynes and I am from Shelbyville, KY. I am a senior majoring in Neuroscience (pathway in psychology) and I am also minoring in Women, Genders, and Sexualities Studies. I am a national-level weightlifter, and compete in CrossFit all over the world. My future career goal is to be a clinical researcher studying addiction. My favorite neuroscience fact is that our brains have a bacteria called "Arc" that has been theorized to have given humans consciousness.

I'm a senior in neurobiology, and I want to work for the NIH after graduation! At Transy, I'm also a long distance swimmer. My favorite neuroscience fact is that decresed levels of oxytocin in Caesarian sections affect both mother and infant's abilities to bond.

Last week, Ohio State’s Nu Rho Psi chapter hoste Last week, Ohio State’s Nu Rho Psi chapter hosted Dr. Sandra Kostyk for our monthly mojo. Every month we host speakers to tell us about their careers and provide advice to our students. Dr. Kostyk received a PhD and MD, and currently works as a neurologist at the Wexner Medical Center specializing in movement disorders like Huntington’s disease. Our students enjoyed hearing about her journey!🧠

The advancement of knowledge about the brain is the best hope we have for achieving this goal.
Meet a professor!! Professor Melloni is pictured h Meet a professor!! Professor Melloni is pictured here with NuRhoPsi alumni Danielle Voke and Michelle Jeffery. He is one of Northeastern’s Professors of Psychology who teaches neuroscience electives including Psychopharmacology and and Clinical Neuroanatomy. His research focuses on aggression in both basic science and clinical phases with focus on the effects of drugs of abuse and social stressors on offensive aggression as well as biological markers of aggression and treatment for aggressive behavior. Professor Melloni is a strong supporter of NU NRP and a club favorite for professor lunches. Dr. Mitra Hartmann (Northwestern University) will Dr. Mitra Hartmann (Northwestern University) will be our speaker at today’s meeting! As an affiliated investigator in the Neuroscience and Robotics Lab (NxR) at Northwestern, her work focuses on exploring the sense of touch. Current efforts in the lab focus developing a computational model for how sensory information from the whiskers of rats is coded and processed in the nervous system and how this information is used to explore the rat’s environment and guide its actions.
